Adam Hynam-Smith can visualize a row of vegetables running the length
of his St. Catharines street with neighbours tending the plants.
Nature strips are popular in his native Australia, where he says
residents grow vegetation on the boulevard area which is otherwise
wasted space.
“They will transform the nature strip in front of their house into
gorgeous gardens,” he said. “Actually turning it into a beautiful space,
even putting footpaths into it.”
As it turns out, there’s nothing in St. Catharines to prevent city residents from doing the same thing.
