Green Kitchen Smoothies Healthy and Colorful Smoothies for Everyday

I made 2 more recipes from the book 'Green Kitchen Smoothies' Healthy and Colorful Smoothies for Everyday by David Frenkiel & Luise Vindahl.

I made the Chia Pudding on pg 28.  While I did like it, I much prefer the Cinnamon Chocolate Chia Pudding we make from the Joy of Kosher 28 Day Challenge even though I am not a fan of chocolate.

Next I made the Chia & Raspberry Pudding on pg 70.  Can you see a theme here?  I didn't have any raspberries so I substituted blackberries.  I really liked this one but then I like coconut.  Daughter does not like coconut so while she does like the pudding, next time we would cut the coconut down from 3 tbsp to 1 tbsp & see how that goes.  It is rather coconut-y with the 3 tbsp of coconut.

I was not able to get to the Mango & Chia Parfait on pge 64 but will try in the near future.

This book 'Green Kitchen Smoothies' Healthy and Colourful Smoothies for Everday by David Frenkiel & Luise Vindahl is definitely a great book.  It is one that I will be using on a regular basis.

Green Kitchen Smoothies Healthy and Colorful Smoothies for Every Day -- Book Review

Green Kitchen Smoothies,
Healthy and Colorful Smoothies For Every Day
by
David Frenkiel & Luise Vindahl.

Let me start by saying that I am definitely NOT a smoothie fan.  I do not relish the idea of drinking my breakfast.  When Bruce got this book for review, I decided to flip through it.  I actually got excited about trying some of these recipes.  Me? A smoothie skeptic.   This is only one of a handful of recipe/cookbooks, I have read cover to cover.  One thing I do like about 'Green Kitchen Smoothies' is that most of the ingredients are all ready staples in my pantry & if not like the almond milk, it is easily made.

Daughter eats oats & yogurt in the morning for breakfast before getting on the bus for work, so I thought I would start with 'Grab & Go Blackberry Oats' on page 86.  We were not disappointed.  I made it the night before & refrigerated it so it was a quick breakfast in the morning.  Very delicious & very filling.  This recipe 'Serves 2, or 1 large serving' but we both had a bowl for 2 mornings.

I am also NOT a fan of chocolate milk.  Yes, there are some of us in this world.  I tried the Chocolate Milk on page 114.  I did use 1% milk instead of nut milk.  I decided to try the chocolate milk with traditional milk first before becoming adventurous with nut milk.  I was pleasantly surprised!  I really like this chocolate milk.  One thing I would change next time I made this, I sweetened the chocolate milk with dates as suggested but I would make 'date syrup' I did not get the dates smooth enough, even though I softened them with warm water.  There were still a few chunks in the bottom of the blender.

Next it was time to get adventurous with nut milk.  I made the recipe 'Basic Nut Milk' on page 106.  I used almonds, soaked them overnight & set about making Almond milk.  This is the end result.  I would also make 'date syrup' for this recipe as well.  I am not sure why I cannot get the dates smooth enough.  There are chunks left in the bottom of the blender.  It could be my blender, I have a Ninja or it could be the dates as I do have to soften them more with warm water.  I also may not have let them soak long enough.  It was still very tasty & very much like the store-bought almond milk I have purchased in the past.

There are still more recipes I want to make in this smoothie book like the 'Chia Pudding' on page 28.  I want to compare it to the Chocolate Chia Pudding we all ready love.  I also want to try the 'Mango & Chia Parfait', this sounds absolutely delicious.

The book 'Green Kitchen Smoothies, Healthy And Colorful Smoothies for Every Day is a winner & is definitely going onto my cookbook shelf to be used many times.
